About Pillar 2
Pillar 2 focused on the development of a CME-accredited educational course on advanced imaging techniques for endometriosis through ultrasound. This program will equip imaging specialists with advanced skills to improve disease recognition and diagnostic accuracy. These courses will integrate didactic, interactive, and hands-on learning strategies to teach advanced imaging techniques for endometriosis diagnosis. Dedicated Champions from across Canada will become a source of expertise and knowledge in imaging for their colleagues, to help ensure that high-quality diagnostic imaging is accessible to more people living with endometriosis across the country.
Goal: To enhance skills in endometriosis imaging, particularly through ultrasound, thereby improving diagnostic accuracy, disease recognition, and surgical planning capabilities.
This accredited course is designed to enhance understanding of gynecologic pathology, support advanced imaging interpretation, and practical skills development. Participants will engage in:
- Expert-led didactic sessions
- Interactive case study discussion
- Simulation-based learning
- Live scanning demonstrations and hands-on practice guided by experts
- Discussion of current standards and advanced ultrasound principles “

We’re excited to welcome applicants for the upcoming Advanced Gynecologic Ultrasound Course in Québec City on September 30, 2026, preceding the CanSAGE annual conference. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of current standards, advanced ultrasound principles, and the evaluation of gynecologic abnormalities. This in-person, pre-congress course is designed to develop and enhance knowledge and practical skills in gynecologic ultrasound and offers a combination of didactic sessions, simulations, case studies and hands-on learning.

What the Advanced Gynaecologic Ultrasound Course program includes
The Advanced Gynecologic Ultrasound Course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in gynecologic ultrasound. Participants will enhance their understanding of current standards, advanced ultrasound principles, and the evaluation of gynecologic abnormalities. The course utilizes a robust, blended approach including didactic sessions for foundational theory, simulations for risk-free decision-making practice, case studies for problem-solving and critical thinking, and hands-on learning for practical application.
Cost
$1,000.00 CAD + applicable taxes for Practising Physicians; $575 CAD + applicable taxes for Trainees
Selection Process
Space is limited to approximately 16 participants. If there are more eligible applicants than spots available, selection will be first come first serve.
Learning Objectives
Following the completion of this activity the participant shall be able to:
- Define normal anatomy, variants and sonographic evaluation of the uterus to accurately identify and interpret uterine abnormalities
- Analyze the sonographic evaluation of endometriosis in extra-uterine/ovarian regions
- Familiarize themselves with interventional gynecologic ultrasound procedures, specifically sonohysterography and tubal patency evaluation
- Discuss challenging cases and make informed clinical decisions through interactive case studies
- Demonstrate increased knowledge by participating in hands-on opportunities on live patients
Accreditation
This activity is an Accredited Simulation Activity (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by SOGC, for up to 7 MOC Section 3 hours.
About ECEP
CanSAGE’s Endometriosis Care Education Program (ECEP), funded by the Health Canada Sexual and Reproductive Health Fund, is a national initiative designed to bridge critical gaps in endometriosis care. The project is structured around three core pillars, with Pillar 2 specifically dedicated to Diagnostic imaging for radiologists, gynecologic sonologists, sonographers and general gynaecologists. Pillar 2 focuses on the development of an interdisciplinary, CME-accredited educational course on advanced imaging techniques for endometriosis through ultrasound. This course incorporates didactic learning, case studies, and hands-on simulation scenarios. To ensure widespread implementation, the program had recruited and trained national Champions to deliver this content nationwide, with the ultimate goal of improving endometriosis diagnostic accuracy, disease recognition, and surgical planning capabilities across Canada.
