Get to Know a CanSAGE Board Member: Dr. Chelsey Topping

Dr. Topping is with Canmore Obstetrics and Gynecology

What inspired you to pursue a career in minimally invasive surgery?

I was inspired to pursue minimally invasive surgery because at the time, it seemed that women in rural centres and with lower socioeconomic status had less access to MIS.

I wanted to help improve access for these women and work to improve quality of care.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

My favourite part is seeing women whose lives have been changed and improved because they have so much less pain and a way better quality of life.

Why did you decide to get involved with CanSAGE?

I have been going to CanSAGE since the beginning.

I was always interested in being involved, so when a little peer pressure came my way, I couldn’t resist.

Do you have any hobbies? What do you do in your spare time?

Running. I mostly run too much in my spare time.
