Call for Board Nominations — 2026

Canadian Society for the Advancement of Gynecologic Excellence (CanSAGE / SCanPEG)

CanSAGE is pleased to invite nominations from qualified members for positions on the Board of Directors. The CanSAGE Board plays a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of our Society, advancing excellence in gynecologic care across Canada, and ensuring that CanSAGE continues to serve its members and the broader community with integrity and vision.

Board service is a meaningful opportunity to contribute your expertise, perspectives, and energy to a growing national community. We encourage all eligible members to consider putting their name forward or nominating a respected colleague.

    Open Director Positions

    • Director (two positions, 2-year term)

The Board is seeking to fill two Director positions. All CanSAGE members in good standing are encouraged to apply. The Governance and Nominations Committee (GNC) has identified a need for representation from the Prairie (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta) and Pacific/North (British Columbia and the Territories) regions, and applications from members in those regions are particularly welcome, although candidates from all regions will be considered.

    Director Responsibilities
Directors are responsible for the conduct, management, and control of the affairs and business of CanSAGE, including making rules and regulations consistent with the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws. Directors are expected to attend a minimum of four Board meetings per year, participate actively in Board discussions, and serve on at least one CanSAGE Committee. Terms of two years begin at the first Board meeting following the AGM at which the Director is elected. A Director may seek re-election for up to two additional terms, to a maximum of six consecutive years of service.

    Open Fellow Representative Position

    • Fellow Representative (one position, 1-year term, ex officio non-voting)

The Board is seeking to fill one Fellow Representative position. First-year or second-year fellows in a CanSAGE or Canadian AAGL Advanced Gynecologic Surgery program who are also CanSAGE trainee members in good standing are encouraged to apply.

    Fellow Representative Responsibilities
The Fellow Representative holds an ex officio non-voting role on the Board and is responsible for the representation of fellow and trainee concerns and for communication of relevant Board and CanSAGE issues to the Canadian fellowship group. This is a one-year term beginning at the Board meeting following the AGM at which the Fellow Representative is elected. The Fellow Representative may come from anywhere in Canada.

    Eligibility

    • Director nominees must be Practicing Physician members in good standing.
    • The Fellow Representative nominee must be a first-year or second-year fellow in a CanSAGE or Canadian AAGL program and a Trainee member in good standing.

    Skills and Experience
The Board values candidates whose experience and skills strengthen its collective capacity. Strong candidates will bring a commitment to the mission of CanSAGE and a willingness to engage constructively in governance. We encourage applications from members with backgrounds in any of the following areas:

    • Research or academic experience
    • Financial management or legal experience
    • Health policy, advocacy, or government relations
    • Communications, media, or public engagement
