Conference Director
The steady hand behind the Annual Conference: logistics, budget, and the direct line to our event management team.
Reports to: CanSAGE Board of Directors
Selected by: Current Conference Director and the Board

Maintains consistency on the Scientific Planning Committee (SPC) by focusing on the logistical backbone of the Annual Conference and ensuring planning stays within the Board-approved budget. Acts as the direct intermediary between the SPC and the contracted event management company, with authority to make decisions on the SPC’s behalf when the Conference Chair is unavailable. Reports directly to the Board at every meeting and serves as the primary point of contact for industry partners.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain logistical consistency across the annual planning cycle
- Keep planning and spend aligned with the Board-approved budget
- Serve as the primary liaison between the SPC and the event management company
- Step in on SPC decisions when the Conference Chair is unavailable
- Be the primary point of contact for industry and sponsor partners
- In Year 3, mentor and onboard the incoming Conference Director

Fellowship Boot Camp Co-Directors
Build and run the didactic + hands-on Boot Camps that train the next generation of MIGS/advanced gynecologic surgery fellows.
Reports to: CanSAGE Executive Director
Selected by: Current Boot Camp Co-Directors and the Fellowship Committee
Eligibility: Practicing Gynecologist, CanSAGE member in good standing

Incoming Co-Directors join as junior representatives working alongside the current senior representatives, then transition to the senior role in their second year. This cohort’s 2-year term spans the 2027 and 2028 Boot Camps, expected to consist of a 1.5-2 day J&J MedTech-supported MIGS GYN Fellows Boot Camp (location and dates TBC) each year, and a 1-day pre-conference educational workshop in St. John’s (Wednesday, September 22, 2027) and Calgary (Wednesday, September 13, 2028), coordinated in collaboration with selected corporate partners.
Responsibilities:
- Attend regular meetings (approximately once monthly) and document planning progress
- Create the didactic schedule and propose/invite speakers
- Work with industry to request funding; submit grants as necessary
- Coordinate CPD (continuing professional development) accreditation
- Organize the hands-on component and logistics planning, including equipment and supplies (food and beverage coordination may apply depending on venue)
- Liaise with the CanSAGE Executive Director to update on planning progress
- Attend and supervise the pre-conference Fellowship Boot Camps
